How Big is Your World?

Suppose you have lived your whole life in Centennial, attended only Littleton Public schools, never traveled to another state, let alone another country, never met anyone other than people who live in your neighborhood, never learned a foreign language. Given this scenario, your world might be considered rather small. But now consider all the experiences you have accumulated so far in your life -- the people you've met, the places you've visited, the specialized skills and knowledge you've acquired. Compare yourself to that hypothetical stay-at-home and answer the question "How big is your world?" Consider both its physical and mental dimensions.

I think my world is very small because i have not many very many people besides other people at other high schools, and people at Arapahoe. I also have not been to another country so i consider my world to be very small because there is so much i have not seen or done. I am in the process of learning another language so once that is complete i think my world will expand by a huge margin. But compared to the stay-at-home world it is very large because I have done more than that person and accomplished a lot more in terms of traveling and meeting people. Compared to other people though i think my world is so very small because i have not done those things. Once i do do those things though i think it will be larger and more comparable.

On a mental state my world is very large. With accsess to a computer anyone can talk to or even see another person anywhere in the world. With the click of a button I can see any place on the planet earth in only a few seconds. This greatly expands my world on a mental note. If you think on a physical note, though, my world is much smaller. I have never left the country, and only been to the coast once. That leaves around 90% of the world I have yet to see. Depending on the way you look at it my world can be very large or very small.

Right now my world is small. I have never left the country or been on the east side of the Mississippi River. The last time I went out of state was at least a year ago. I know a fair amount of people, but not many out of the Denver area. Right now I am in the process of learning a new language. This will expand my world because it will make it possible for me to communicate with people outside the U.S. I also plan to travel the world someday. After I have seen all there is to see, I think my world will be very large. Right now my world is small, but I don't plan on keeping it that way.

I would half to say that its not that big seeing as i have never left the country and the farthest east i have been is michigan. I have alot of friends here in Denver but nowhere else. Right now i am in the process of learning another language with the hopes of helping me expand my knowledge of the different themes and cultures that our out there in our world.

I would have to say that my world is medium size. I have been out of the country but not too far out. I have been around the United States, but thats not the same. I know alot of people in different parts of the country so, mentally I would think that my world is huge. Hopefully some day i can travel more places and meet more people. I can't really say that my world is huge physical wise but i feel i can mentally.

I would have to say that my physical world is medium. I have gone out of the country a couple times but I plan on going to many more places so I can learn more about the world. This summer I drove to New York with my church and got to see a TON of America. I feel like this experience broadened my horizons. I’m learning Spanish so hopefully that will help me connect with other cultures. I have family in other states but other than that I don’t know a lot of people outside of Colorado. I feel like my mental world is as big as I make it. I know that there is so much more to learn and that’s why I would have to say as of right now its pretty small, but is getting bigger everyday.

My world right now is very small when compared with people that have already had the oppertunity to travel the world. But I think that my world is far larger then the stay-at-home world because I know many people in inner Denver and Littleton. I am currently learning spanish, and if I become fluent I think my world will become even larger because if I ever travel to Europe I will be able to communicate with many of the citizens.

Physically, my world is HUGE! As a tiny person looking at things such as the ocean, the mountains, the Grand Canyon, and even some buildings can make me feel so inferior. But those are things that make my world so awesome. Mentally and socially my world is pretty large. I know many people all over the place...like at school, church, my neighborhood, and places like that. I have family in other states that i frequently visit. The experiences I've had in life have made me look at the world through different perspectives and I think the more I grow, the more I pay attention to my world that surrounds me.

I think that my world is farley large. I have attended 3 schools before i came to Arapahoe High School so me knowing a large amount of people is extremly nice. With Computers and such you may talk to anyone easily eith just the click of the enter button. Also i have traveled to a great amount of places. My mom is a flight attendent so i have traveled to Germany, Sweden, Italy, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. All in all, i figure that i have quiet a large world considering all the places i have been and all the people that i know.

I would have to say that my world is fairly small compared to what it could be. The farthest away a cross a sea that I have been is to Hawaii. With the Olympics on now though it makes me think about how big the world actually is. It is amazing to think that we are all connect though with the internet and phone lines running all over the world. In a way no one would be able to get along without the rest of the world we all have something to offer that makes the world a better place. Although the different countries may have different ideas about how to run the world we all manage to get along. If I just had to live in centennial then I think that I would feel like what the guy in the poem felt. I would feel trapped and I would probably think that they way I lived was the right way and that there is no other way to live. I feel very lucky that I have had the opportunity to explore more of the world than that other people have I hope to go outside of the U.S. one day to explore more of the world.

I think my world is small physicaly because the only country i have been out of the united states is Mexico, but i was 3 so i don't really remember it very well. I have been to a few states but that doesnt compare to all the other places in the world. im learning spanish right now so i hope one day that will make my world alot bigger.

I do not feel that my world is very big. I have never been out of the country and have only been to a few other states. Even though with the invention of google earth you can now see almost all the world, i do not feel like I know it until I have actually been there. Compared to the stay at home person, I do not feel like I have much of an advantage. I've only been to a few other states and the pictures I have of other places, I get from home so basically the other person could get it too.

I would have to say my world is kinda small. I have not been out of the country but i have been to a lot of states. Iv lived in three different states so i know a lot of people. I also know a fair amount of people in Colorado. I am so nieve to the world because i have never been out of the United States. I am learning a new language right now and i hope to be able to use that to my advantage. When im out of High School or maybe college i want to explore my world and take my world from being small to large.

My physical world is not big at all. I've never left the country and only been out of Colorado a hand full of times. I went to Aurora Public schools up until the first grade and have gone to Little Public Schools since. And although I've met many new friends the amount of people I know is nothing on a worldly scale. I'm starting to learn a different language, which has helped broaden my understanding of the world, but there are still many things I don't know. Thanks to T.V. and the computer, though, my word seems huge on a mental scale. I've seen and heard about different parts of the world which makes it seem big I just have yet to experience more of it though.

My world is like seven pieces of a 1000 piece puzzle. I spent a good while dividing the edges from the center pieces and the different colors. I’ve been putting it to together for a short period of time now and have found some very colorful pieces, and some weird looking ones, but its looking good. The trick with a puzzle is you have to start out with some good luck and then dealing with what luck gave you. It’s always a challenge trying to find that one piece that fits with the others. It pounds on your mind trying to find the right place, but once it gets there, it all comes together.

I would have to say that mentally my world is rather big. I know lots about other countries and their cultures from all my recourses, such as the internet, magazines, and social studies. But, on top of that I have many family members that travel all around the world and share their experiences with me. For example my uncle took a trip to Peru this summer and shared his memories with my family and now I feel like I have visited there myself. Physically my world is about three fourths of the United States and a city in Mexico. My dad is a pilot and owns his own plane so I am lucky enough to be able to travel almost anywhere in America. It also just so happens that where my dad can't fly we have family in that state, so we travel commercially to those states. But as far as the rest of the world, I have only been to Mexico so my physical world is fairly small compared to the entire world.

I think my world is medium size on a physical and mental aspect because I travel all the time, have many friends in other states, all my family lives in different states, a lot of my friends go to other schools, I've been out of the country multiple times, ETC. However, there is still so much I can do in this world and so much I havn't seen. There are so many languages and cultures I have no clue about. I feel like my world is much bigger then the stay-at-home world. There is still so much more and there will always be more that I can do in this world. Although, for my age I feel like my world is pretty large.

I think that my world is very average in comparison to other people. I've traveled to a good amount of states, and to mexico. Yet when talking to others it always seems that I have done less then most people. Which tells me that my world is much smaller then I had thought. Then i look at people who havent had the same oppertunities ans who havent had the privlage to travel, and incounter different people and cultures. So for being a 15 year old living in colorado, I thib=nk that my world is niether big nor small.

As of this moment my world is small, but at the same time it is very large. My world is small because I have never moved and the only new people I meet face to face are the people I meet when entering a different school. At the same time my world is very large because of all the technology I have access too. Like for example, the internet. The internet lets you meet new people and actually talk to them all over the world making my world much much bigger. Depending on how I choose to look at my world it can be either big or small.

My world doesent extend past the United States on a physical scale. I have visited places like Florida and California but have never been out of the country. We rarly go out of state and all of my family and freinds live within a 20 mile radius of Denver. In reallity though, my world is alot larger thanks to the internet. I can talk to someone half-way around the world in a couple of seconds. Physicaly my world is small but mentally, it is alot larger.

I think my world is very large because, for every person that lives in Denver there are nearly three thousand people that live outside of Denver. I was also raised with two languages and pretty much two cultures which widens my perspective of my world. Although I have been to Guatemala and experienced their culture I still know that there are so many other cultures in the world for me to experience.

i think my world is very big because i have a lot of friends at both Arapahoe and on my street. I have been to many other countries like Mexico, China, Canada, and England. Im am in Spanish 2 this year and when i complete all 4 four years of Spanish, my world will expand even more. I also consider my world to be very big because i run Cross Country and i get to see a lot of things around that i havn't seen before. Compared to other people i have a very big world.

As a teen still my world is relatively small, yet is way bigger than in the other scenario . I've been to Canada, England, Ireland as well as some other countries and many states. I've met some people along the way too. Although many are still in school, I've some pretty interesting people. With 14 blood related uncles and aunts I've been practically thrown into a pure family society which can get a little crazy. I also went to a Democratic National Convention with one of my aunts where I met many interesting people such as Howard Dean. So thinking about it out loud I'd have to say I've got a pretty big world, but it still has a ways to grow.

I think that my world is small in both the physical and mental sense. In the physical sense my world is small in both the people I know and the places I have been. I know a lot of people from sports and school, but most of the people I know all live in Colorado. I have also never been out of the U.S. Compared to politicians and celebrities that have travelled all over the world my world is tiny. In the mental sense my world is pretty small as well. I am pretty good in school, but I am not even close to what I want to know. The internet has helped me expan my world because I can learn so many facts quickly and chat with someone thousands of miles away. I hope in the future to greatly expand my world.

I would say my world is pretty big compared to the very extreme scenario of not being anywhere besides centennial. Physically, my world is pretty big, I have never been out of the USA, but I have been to over 25 of the states. Also, I was born out of state by the east coast in Illinois. Mentally, my world is also fairly big. I have many friends and family out of state and I am always able to keep in touch with the access of the internet. I hope to travel more around the world just too see what different places are like though. I am currently enrolled in Spanish III, and I believe this will help me open my mental and physical views of my world and the world itself.

My world is HUGE and not just on a physical scale. I have been to Switzerland, Germany, France, and Mexixo, as well as most of the states in the U.S. but, if you were to consider that how big my world is, it would be...well...small. On a mental scale my world is GINORMOUS! I honestly think that the things I think about sometimes are so far fetched. However, I think that this is an advantage. It expands my imagination and, in my opinion, makes life more fun. I also think about the problems in the world and how me might have arrived at them. Sometimes I think about ways to solve them. (I know, I'm so cool right?) In the summer I go and sit on my roof and just think about life and I helps clear my head of problems that I face. I have so many friends that help to complete my world. My family supports me in everything I do. So, you asked, "how big is your world?" I'd say my world is pretty big. :]

In comparison to everything there is possible to see and do my world is very small! I have never been out of the country and only out of state three or four times. I have been lucky to live in many places around the state of Colorado including Parker, Lakewood, Denver, and now Littleton. And because of sports I know many kids from other high schools around the state. The internet, phones, and tv allow us to see and hear a great amount of things but that is very different from actually experiencing them. So once you think about it, my world is pretty small.
